Michael is known for his ability to translate complex analysis into clear, actionable insights and help agencies, stakeholders, and the public understand tradeoffs and make informed decisions. His clients include state departments of transportation (Caltrans, Hawaii, Indiana, Nevada, Oregon, Washington), metropolitan planning organizations and councils of government (MTC, SACOG, SANDAG, SCAG, Gateway Cities, South Bay Cities), transit and rail agencies (LA Metro, BART, CCJPA, CHSRA, LOSSAN, SFMTA), and city governments (Los Angeles DOT, City of San Diego).
Career highlights include leading the project prioritization that underpinned the successful 2016 Measure M ballot initiative for LA Metro, directing SACOG’s pioneering Mobility Zones program to support neighborhood-level mobility solutions, and advising the State of California on evaluating and prioritizing active transportation and transit assets across the statewide network.
