New senior appointments at Steer

The new year at Steer brings the announcement of two senior appointments within the firm. Our former UK Managing Director, Sharon Daly, becomes our global Chief Operating Officer, and Mike Goggin takes Sharon’s place as our UK MD.

Sharon has worked at Steer for nineteen years. In 2016, she was promoted to UK Managing Director, having worked across various aspects of the UK business in senior roles in previous years. Sharon has over 25 years of experience in finance, economics and transport planning working for clients across the UK. As the firm’s COO, Sharon’s focus will be to manage the operational aspects across the company’s 20 offices in Europe, North America, South America and India.

As Sharon moves into her new role, Mike Goggin assumes the role of UK Managing Director, responsible for three offices across the UK (London, Leeds and Manchester) and over 200 staff. Mike is accountable for the strategic development of services and operations across the three UK divisions; 1) Advisory, 2) Planning and 3) Transport Strategy & Economics. He is in his second spell with Steer, having re-joined in 2011 following a two-year period as Director of Stations & Customer Service for Network Rail. Mike has worked across rail and transport more widely for over 20 years, having worked mainly in the UK and North America.

During 2018, Steer worked on over 1000 client projects across almost 40 countries – it is Sharon’s and Mike’s responsibility to ensure clients receive impartial, objective and results-driven advice as a standard.
