Steer is delighted to welcome Emily Alter as an Associate in our Oakland office. Emily will lead our Equity and Inclusion (E&I) efforts in North America.
She will assist the company in growing and transforming its equity practice while also mainstreaming E&I across Steer’s work in different sectors.
Emily joins the E&I leaders’ network at Steer with 11 years of local government experience in the San Francisco Bay Area, managing equitable and sustainable land use, transportation, and community projects. Prior to joining Steer, Emily worked in the Bay Area Rapid Transit’s (BART) Office of Civil Rights, where she used her commitment to community-driven decision-making to expand the agency’s regulatory compliance functions to achieve more socially equitable mass transit solutions. She worked closely with the Link21 Team to develop the project’s Priority Populations definition and manage its equity work.
![Emily said: When I first met Steer staff as a client on the Link21 Program I was instantly impressed by the level of rigor and creativity that the team brought to the complex questions we were trying to solve. I am excited to collaborate with the passionate and innovative experts at Steer to mainstream E&I practices throughout our work.](/sites/default/files/inline-images/emily-quote.png)
