Northern Line Extension receives go-ahead
Northern Line extension gets the go-ahead.
Steer Davies Gleave is delighted to share that the Secretary of State has decided to make the Order relating to the construction and operation of the Northern Line Extension (NLE) in London. Very few conditions were attached to the order which is a testament to the exceptional work the Transport for London (TfL) delivery team produced in the lead up to the inquiry.
SDG developed the initial concept for the NLE in 2007 to better connect Battersea Power Station with the rest of London. Since the original concept design, we have played a significant role in the project and our work culminated this past December with being commissioned to develop evidence and support TfL through the public inquiry.
Major extensions to London underground are often proposed but rarely receive approval. This extension of the underground will enable the redevelopment of Battersea Power Station and provide up to 25,000 jobs and thousands of new homes.
